Welcome to Willow Class
PSHE
During the first term we will focus on the children getting to know one another and creating friendships in the class. We will discuss the school rules and create class promises thinking about how we can share equipment and look after one another while we are at school. We will achieve this by modelling behaviour to the children, playing a number of games which encourage team work and having class discussions regarding the school rules and promises.
We celebrate our achievements daily, and have 'Golden time' on Friday along with our 'Star of the Week' award which we enjoy celebrating together and display in our class the following week.

Physical development
We spend lots of time outside learning how to negotiate a variety of spaces! We use local parks, our discovery garden and our sandpit to move in lots of different ways!
We also love dancing to lots of different music, especially when we have lovely scarves to play with!
By playing with clay, sand, play dough and other similar mediums we are working really hard at strengthening our pencil grip- helping to make us fantastic writers!

Mathematics
We love to do Maths in a practical way! We do this daily through a range of activities. During the register we will focus on recognising numerals, counting up to 30 discussing one more or less and discussing the days of the week, months and year. During snack time we will focus on sharing out the snack equally among our friends. When it is time to line up, we practice counting in two's. This will help the class learn about odd and even numbers and mark the beginning of their education in multiplications.
During free flow and cooking sessions with Miss. Cresswell and Miss. Gemma we will use language relating to time, distance, measures and size by modelling the appropriate language with the class and questioning them to develop their understanding. During art activities we will focus on the children recognising and creating patterns and utilising shapes to achieve a planned effect.
