Football Tournament
Banyan and Cedar Classes combined to form two teams for a tournament at the University of Nottingham's artificial pitches. They played against many other teams from across the City and County. Both teams ended the tournament by playing each other to top the group of teams who had come third place from the mornings league games.
The video below captures the highlights, especially Mohammad's scorching goal which set Dunkirk B on the path to victory over Dunkirk A.

Rugby Tournament at Nottingham University
Cedar and Banyan class fielded two teams in a hard fought Tag Rugby tournament against 10 other teams from across the city. The standard of play was high and there was a very competitive spirit in the air as the Nottingham University student coaches gave last minute instructions to the school teams they had been coaching for the last ten weeks.
Dunkirk's teams did exceptionally well, playing each other in the final after coming top in separate group stages.
A fantastic result, well done to all of you who participated.

Languages Day 2015
|
During this year's Languages Day Cedar class practised and performed a role play in Spanish. We were at the cinema and we learnt how to buy tickets, ask how much it cost and some general greetings. We also practised eating popcorn and watching a film!
In the afternoon we were lucky enough to have 4 parents who came in to share their home language with us. Shehed's mum taught us some Arabic, Maysa's dad shared some Urdu, Isabel's dad taught us some German and we learnt some Portuguese with Gabriel's mum. We learnt 'hello', 'how are you?', 'please' and 'thank you'.
It was great to learn how to write our names in Arabic and we listened to a poem in German which Isabel read beautifully. Lots of children in class speak different languages at home and they all enjoyed sharing and celebrating their languages together.
We will be practising all the languages we learnt around school.

Connecting Classrooms Visit from Pakistan
You know how it is, you have no international visitors for weeks and then two lots turn up at the same time!
We were lucky enough to have visitors from Pakistan and Finland teach in our class.
Miss Saliha taught us a lesson about greed and power. She used puppet figures to tell a story and we had to work out who was powerful and who was weak. We then created our own story with these characters.
Niko, a teacher from Finland played guitar and taught us an African song which we accompanied with our hands and feet. Please click on the audio link to hear our song and play our slideshow.

History - Powerful People and Powerful Poppies
Miss Pearce has been teaching in Cedar Class since October 2014. She has introduced a really interesting topic linked to 'Greed and Power' and that links with the centenary of the start of World War One. It has been an emotional roller coaster. If you would like to pay your respects to the many who have lost their lives in war, maybe you might want to create your own Powerful Poppy just like Miss Barrett's:

Science
The results are in!
Here are some of the results of our germination experiments.
We have been experimenting to see what sort of conditions seeds germinate best in.
Some have water and light, some have water but no light, some have light but no water and some have neither.
We will post our results when we have investigated further.

Cedar class are currently studying the famous local legend of Robin Hood.
We have been reading the many versions of the text and we have
been discussing issues raised by the stories such as
“Is it ok to steal from the rich?”
“Did Robin Hood really exist?”
“Are there any Robin Hoods in the world today?”
