Olive Class 2015-2016
We learnt lots of fabulous things last year as Apple and Elm Classes but now we are all 5 years old (except a few who are already 6) we will amaze you with everything we can do as Olive Class. We are looking forward to having super fun, exciting adventures and lots of exploring this year. Please keep on checking our webpages to find out more about our learning.

Dear Parent / Carer
Please see the information below regarding routines and key information for year one.
PE:
Your child needs to bring their PE kit at the beginning of a half term and leave it here until the half term holiday. It can then go home for a wash. We will mainly be inside during the winter, but on occasion we may go outside, so please bare this in mind with your PE kit choices. Your child will need:
· Trainers/Pumps
· Socks
· Shorts/Leggings/jogging bottoms
· Vests/T-Shirt/long sleeved top
For your child’s safety it is important that they have a PE kit in school. Please note that for safety reasons jewellery should not be worn.
Please make sure that all your child's clothes (including PE kit and shoes) are labelled with your child’s name. Already this term, we have a number of items that cannot be returned to their owners because there is no name in them.
Reading Books:
Your child will be sent home with a reading book and diary every day with their books being changed at least once a week. If you would like to borrow additional books, please feel free to ask
your child to choose a book from Olive's ‘lending library’.
Please read with your child as often as possible - 10 minutes each night is very beneficial and sign the reading record book. This record book is also a chance for you to write to us and make any comments you wish to pass on. We will also use it to pass on details on what we are covering in class such as current topics. Your child should bring their book and diary to school EVERYDAY whether they have read that evening or not.
Homework:
Homework is sent home on Friday in your child’s “My homework” book or as a sheet of paper to be stuck in at a later date. The aim is to make the homework fun and educational whilst involving you as parents or carers. On occasion there will be some extra things we will ask you to do but we will send details out when that occurs.
Snack time:
As Dunkirk is a ‘Healthy School’ we would like to just give a gentle reminder that chocolate bars, crisps and sweets are not allowed. Olive class receive a free fruit snack daily and if you want your child to have milk please see the office staff for a form. Please give your child a labelled water bottle to keep in the classroom so your child can sip during the day and keep hydrated (which helps our children concentrate better!)
Consent Forms/Money for Outings
Please ensure that all money and consent forms are handed to me (class teacher), or to your child to hand to me, in a sealed, labelled envelope.
If there is anything that you need to know or discuss with us please let us know as soon as possible. We are usually available at the end of the school day.
Regards,
Lisa Hayes and Debbie Hollingsworth
