Hello and a warm welcome to Rowan Class!
My name is Mr Williams and I am the new class teacher. I will be working alongside Mrs Louisa Theyers and Miss Aasia Shabbir. We are very excited about the beginning of a new school year!
PSHE Activities
Over the first three weeks of term our staff team will be working closely with the children to help them build on positive, respectful and appropriate relationships. This will give us a strong foundation for our learning throughout the year. Activities will include pair-work, team-building exercises and circle games.
Our Topic
Our topic this term will be ‘Power and Greed.’ During this first week of term, children have been asked what they would like to learn about this topic. Their ideas are very important because they will form a large part of our learning.
Swimming & PE
Starting on 9th September we will be going swimming every Tuesday afternoon. Please ensure your children have the appropriate swimming costume – one-piece costumes for girls, fitted trunks or shorts for boys (no baggy shorts past the knee please.) Children will also need to bring a towel, goggles and swimming hat, where appropriate, to bring to school on this day. We will return from swimming by no later than 3.30pm on Tuesdays. This possible delay is due to the importance of changing and returning safely.
We would also like to ask for a parent volunteer to accompany us on our swimming visits. Please come and speak to us or contact the school if you can help.
Our PE days will be Monday (outdoor) and Thursday (indoor). However, we advise that children bring their PE kit on a Monday and take them home on Friday.
Water & Snacks
Could you please ensure that children bring a named water bottle to school with them each day. As we no longer have milk and fruit once children reach Year 3, we suggest a healthy snack for playtime e.g. a piece of fruit or vegetable sticks.
Reading Books & Homework
Reading books need to be brought to school daily and we ask that reading is encouraged each day at home. We will make every effort to check children’s reading books and reading records each week.
Homework will be given out on Friday afternoon and collected on Wednesday morning.
If you have any questions, concerns or if there is any way that you feel you would be able to support our learning journey, please feel free to come and speak to us.
Best wishes,
Rowan Class Team
