REQUEST – For Friday 20th January
Please could your child bring into school clean, washed out and dry egg shells, egg boxes, old tights (preferably thin skin colour ones) and old plastic bottles for some science work on Friday 20th January.
Dance Showcase
As you know I am really excited that Maple class have the opportunity to perform their dance on Wednesday 18th January at the Nottingham Arts Theatre.
I hope to see everybody there at 6.45pm prompt (Alice to check time)
Homework
Is there a set day when homework is given? Maple class
have regular What’s New Book activities.
It is extremely important that all children read regularly at home, talk about what they have read and that the reading record is completed for your child.
Regular practice of the 2, 3, 4 5 and 10 times tables, including multiplication and division facts and number pairs to 10, 20 and 100 will also help their mental maths.
Homework is an opportunity for your child to share with you some of his/her school learning. Please support your child by picking a good time to do it, allowing him/her to take the lead, only assisting if they are unsure or need something reading or explaining and overall by being positive.
PE Kits
Please ensure your child brings his or her PE kit to school on a Monday morning and takes it home on Friday, as it is useful to have in school all week. Please note that for safety reasons jewellery should not be worn. If your child is unable to do PE on any day could you please let us know in the morning or send a note with your child.
Snack time
As Dunkirk is a ‘Healthy School’ we would like to just give a gentle reminder that chocolate bars, crisps and sweets are not encouraged for the children to have as their morning time snack. Therefore, could the children please bring in either a piece of fruit, a healthy snack bar or buy fruit from our fruit shop at a cost of 20p. There is always water for your child to drink but we also have a space in the classrooms for water bottles so your child can sip during the day and keep hydrated (which helps our children concentrate better!)
Dinner Money/Consent Forms/Money for Outings
Please ensure that all money and consent forms are handed to the class teacher in a sealed, labelled envelope.
Please come into school and help
If you would like to help in class at any time please come into school and speak with us. You might want to hear some children read, help with artwork or ICT. You may have a specific skill which you could share with the children at some point. We would welcome any parent support in class!
If you have any worries or concerns please let me know. I am available to discuss any issues you may have by appointment after school on most days.
